Neil seeks amendment to uphold high standards in trade deals

Neil was in the House of Commons this week to make a speech on the remaining stages of the Agriculture Bill and push New Clause 2 to a vote.

As Chair of the EFRA Committee, Neil has been scrutinising the progress of agriculture and trade policy since Brexit. With the support of the cross-party committee, he tabled NC2, which would have ensured 'equivalent' standards of food imports. However, despite 22 Conservative MPs backing the amendment and 15 abstensions, the Agriculture Bill progressed unamended.
