Neil Parish MP Visits Kings House Day Hospice in Honiton

Neil Parish, MP for Tiverton and Honiton, visited the new Kings House Day Hospice in Honiton, for an open day on Saturday 14th March to see the new £1.2 million building in action.

Neil met with Katie Chantler, Head of Fundraising, and Liz Straw, Hospiscare Public Relations Officer, and was shown around the centre and saw first-hand the reception and meeting rooms, nurse’s office, staff kitchen and toilets, boiler room, consultation and treatment room, quiet room, bathroom, toilet, utility room, professional kitchen and finally the w lounge, which looks out onto the soon to be planted garden.

The £1.2 million building in King Street, which was first opened to patients on 17th February 2015, was funded by an NHS England grant of £510,000, generous contributions by hospice charities in Budleigh, Exmouth, Sidmouth, and other grants. The £250,000 community appeal to equip the building successfully reached £275,000 with Hospiscare thanking local people for their amazing generosity and urging people to continue fundraising for the day hospice’s ongoing costs.
