Neil spoke in a Backbench Business debate about the hospitality industry and Covid-19.
In the Backbench Business debate, Neil spoke about the importance of the hospitality industry for the West Country. He reminded the house the sector is worth £2.5 billion to Devon’s economy each year and supports over 3,000 local businesses- from wedding venues to pubs, cafés and restaurants.
Neil welcomed the comprehensive financial support provided to the sector during the pandemic, including cash grants, tax cuts and loan schemes. But he also urged the Government to engage with the hospitality industry to ensure small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), which underpin the sector’s supply chains, can readily access support.
