On Tuesday 2nd April Neil Parish MP told the Government that they need to do more to prevent puppy smuggling.
Neil spoke in the Westminster Hall debate on puppy smuggling and told the minister that ‘it is time for action, not just words’. He highlighted his anger that more has not been done to prevent puppy smuggling, since the EFRA Select Committee, which he chairs, published its report “Animal Welfare in England: Domestic Pets”.
Speaking after the debate, Neil said: “I welcome the Minister’s warm words on the matter. However, the time has now come for action. Words are not enough.
“The Government needs to get on with delivering the primary legislation and do more to ensure that the maximum number of puppies which can be brought into the country is reduced. I will continue to press this point with my colleagues in Government.”
