Neil celebrated British Tourism Week by officially opening Oakdown Holiday Park's new reception.
Tourism, Britain’s fifth biggest industry, employs over 2 million people and is worth over £74 billion to the UK economy. Oakdown Holiday Park in Sidmouth, and parks like it across the country, account for a tourist spend of £2.97 billion each year.
"I was delighted to be invited to celebrate British Tourism Week, as well as to open the new reception at this great local business. Although England has seen a rise in tourism spend in the past year, from both domestic and international visitors, just 18 per cent of domestic overnight trips were taken to rural areas. Improvements and investment in the rural tourism sector, such as at Oakdown Holiday Park, will bring more visitors to see and spend in this beautiful part of the world."
