At Conservative Party Conference, Neil Parish MP participated in an event hosted by Battersea Cats and Dogs Home: Mother again and again: The cruelty of backstreet dog breeding.
Neil is passionate about protecting animal welfare and this is one of the most serious issues in the UK, largely because of how unexposed it is. The Government has legislated a lot on this issue but more needs to be done to ensure that dogs who are forced to have litter after litter of puppies are protected.
Speaking at the panel Neil said: “It is heart breaking to see the poor mothers who are forced to have so many puppies time and time again. More needs to be done to protect these dogs, and also the puppies who are taken away from their mothers for the sake of profit. I want to make sure that there is a more cohesive plan between Government, the police, local authorities and animal welfare charities to ensure that all dogs are protected.”
