Green Energy at Shebbear College

Neil visited Shebbear College in West Devon to see how the school creates its own green energy on-site.

He saw how the school collects all its food waste and converts it into green electrcity using the andigestion process. A bonus by-product of the process is heat, which in turn is used to dry the woodchips which are delivered to the school to fuel biomass boilers and heat the school.

Neil also visited the new solar array at the north of the college campus, which is providing additional green electricity for the college. Devon has some of the highest levels of sunshine in the British Isles, making the school a perfect spot for solar panels.

Mr Parish also spoke to Form 1, 2 and Sixth Form pupils about sustainable energy and his work as an MP.
