Help for Rural Businesses with Rates

Neil intervened in the debate on Local Government Finance to call for greater support for rural businesses with their rates. The Government's business rate re-evaluation will change the taxes paid by many businesses in rural areas.

PMQs - Justice for Barry Pring

Neil asked Theresa May in Prime Minister's Question for justice in the Barry Pring case. The Devon businessman was unlawfully killed in Ukraine in 2008. Neil pressed for the Prime Minister to press the case, which has stalled over the past decade, with her Ukrainian counterpart.

Tougher Sentences for Animal Abusers

Neil spoke at a Parliamentary event, organised by Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, to call for far stronger sentences for those convicted of animal cruelty offences. Neil gave his backing to the campaign for the maximum sentence for animal abuse to be increased from six months to five years.

Neil calls for more Funding for Devon Schools

Help for Young Farmers

Neil spoke at the launch of Natwest's report on helping young people in the farming industry. 

The report, Harvesting the Future for Young Farmers, identifies problems which stop young people going into farming, including lack of access to finance and problems diversifying produce.

Southwark Recycling Plant

On 30th November, a group of MPs and peers visited Veolia’s integrated recycling facility, off the Old Kent Road in Southwark, London. The visit was organised by the All-Party Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group (APSRG).

Pressing for CCTV in Slaughterhouses

Neil intervened on the Animal Welfare Minister, George Eustice, in a Parliamentary debate to call for compulsory cameras for the slaughter of horses. This measure would help to improve animal welfare and uncover examples of abuse.
